Henriod Stern is a Nevada litigation boutique founded by two former Am Law 200 partners. Between us, we have taken part in more than a hundred trials. Nearly forty were first chair, including jury verdicts won for unpopular clients in difficult venues. In dozens more, we led the legal work that decides a trial: the trial briefs, the evidentiary fights, and the jury instructions, handled so the case is ready for appeal before the verdict comes in. We have also been counsel in more than fifty published appellate opinions across nearly every subject in civil litigation. We take business and civil disputes from the demand letter through trial and appeal.
We try the case. We argue the appeal. We stay with it the whole way.

aggregate exposure, managed for one client
plaintiff and defense, business and individual, trial and appeal
We build every case around the question that will decide it: the claim worth pressing, the motion that can end it, and whether the case should be tried, settled, or appealed. Lawyers at other firms bring us the same questions about their own cases.
Nearly forty trials as first chair in Nevada’s state and federal courts, jury and bench, and dozens more leading the legal work that decides them. We bring that preparation to commercial, tort, and business disputes, on either side of the v.
More than fifty published opinions from the Nevada Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, across nearly every subject in civil litigation. We helped write the Nevada Appellate Practice Manual, and we have briefed and argued many of the state’s most consequential civil appeals. We build the appellate record from the first motion, so when the trial court rules, we are ready for the next court.
Bring us a dispute at the beginning and we will carry it to the end. The lawyers who plead your case take the depositions, argue the motions, try the case, and brief the appeal.
Commercial contract and business-tort disputes
Real estate, title, and construction
Insurance coverage and bad faith
Lending, insolvency, and fraudulent conveyances
Foreclosure, execution, and injunctive relief
Consumer protection and products liability
You hire two partners who ran large-firm practices, and those two partners handle your case. The lawyers you meet are the lawyers who do the work. Associates work alongside us; they do not replace us.
A small firm has no layers to manage. Decisions move quickly, and the lawyers working your case are the ones making them.
Large firms are often conflicted out of cases against the banks, insurers, and developers they represent. We carry far fewer of those ties, so we can often take the case a larger firm has to decline.
Ariel Stern has won jury verdicts for unpopular clients in difficult venues and argued more than twenty appeals in the Nevada Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit. For one of the nation’s largest mortgage servicers, he directed the defense of hundreds of cases, class actions, and government investigations with aggregate exposure above a billion dollars, and his strategy produced the Nevada Supreme Court decisions that established both the effect of tender and when it is excused.
Joel Henriod has led the legal work on more than seventy trial teams and been counsel in more than fifty published Nevada appellate opinions, in disputes over products, construction, insurance, real estate, health care, and government power. We list those opinions by subject, including the ones that went against our clients, because a record you can check is worth more than a claim you cannot.
We represent plaintiffs and defendants, and we intend to keep doing both. That is the biggest advantage we bring to any case: we know what the other side will do because we have been the other side.
Firms based outside the state bring us their Nevada matters, as co-counsel or as counsel of record.
Former equity partner, Lewis Roca Rothgerber. More than seventy trial teams and fifty published opinions. Fellow, American Academy of Appellate Lawyers. State Bar of Nevada Board of Governors. Co-editor of the Nevada Civil Practice Manual.
Fifteen years as managing partner of a national firm’s Las Vegas office. Nearly forty trials as first chair and more than twenty appeals argued. Directed litigation with more than a billion dollars in aggregate exposure.
Law clerk to Chief Judge Michael P. Gibbons, Nevada Court of Appeals. Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck; Clark County Public Defender.
We are always looking for litigators who want the whole case: the briefs, the depositions, the courtroom, and the appeal.
